Flex Mat Assembly Machine:
This machine is used to install springs and a flex mat to an automotive seat cushion. The operator loads the springs into nests and hangs the mat on the springs. Once the cushion pan is clamped, a pneumatic mechanism stretches the springs and guides the mat onto its retaining tabs. Concerns about part present detection, error proofing, and operator safety were all satisfied with this machine.
